I just picked up a MKLIENS & SONS, hawkbill on ebay this evening.

I got it for yard work mostly and because the only other hawkbill I have is my Case 62031 LHR and I wanted another, single blade hawk for the fold.

So in the interim I was just wondering if any of you fellows could enlighten me on MKLIENS & Sons of Chicago? Was it a hardware store? Who might have made the knife for them? That kind of stuff that makes knives intreresting.

It just looked like a good sized, solid user.

One of my youth days knives was a hawkbill pruner. I used it roughly and this was before I knew how to sharpen a knife (the one good knife I had I fortunately never sharpened.) There's a little nostalgia on this one too.

It looks a lot like a Camillus make to me, as far as Mkleins is, I thought it may be a typo of Klein-the electrical supply company; a little research says m Klein and sons is the saame company i was thinking of. I own a Klein tl29, it's probably made by camillus.

Thanks, Dijos! I'll be delighted if it is Camillus made. It looks like it was made to work. I expecially appreciate the info on the Klein. The number of private label knives made by Camillus, Schrade and others is still mind boggling.
