Hi.

The MKM TPF.. I am looking into this piece currently. But reviews vary A LOT; From fantastic to thrash. And nothing in between. I am not thinking about size, ergonomics, but buildquality.

Anybody got input on this piece?

Thank you so much!

I like the design Sir, my issue is the great divide in reviews of this knife regarding buildquality. How can some say «great heattreatment» and somebody else state that «this and Italin knives in general make the most crappy products»?

Reviewer number one shared a useful opinion. Reviewer number two expressed a broad and sweeping stereotype. One of the two is a simpleton and their review wouldn't hold a drop of water for me.

What Scorpionsnake said. Anyone who makes a sweeping generalization about knives from a particular country are bogus. Such reviewers should be put on ignore and never listened to again.

I have several Italian-made knives. Heat treat is spot on. Build is top notch.

MKM stands for Maniago Knife Manufacturers. This is a cooperation between multiple knife manufacturers: Fox Knives, Lionsteel, Viper and Mercury.

I have nothing but good experiences with knives from Maniago, owning knives from MKM, Fox Knives and Lionsteel. The past few years they have really been doing great things. I would not be worried about the quality. If possible, try to find out which factory is making this particular model. But I would certainly take the plunge. Personally, I have really come to appreciate knives from Maniago, Italy. (I am unfamiliar with Mercury, though).
