MKP Ti

Ok I know nothing about the knife besides what I read on the page, but I am very leary of Ti as a blade material. Even with their "proprietary hardening" they say it has a blade hardness of 47, which as far as I can remember is right about where Ti alloy is normally and is in the spring temper range. So basically what I've been rambling on about is that I feel it could be a good back-up emergency knife but lacks any edge holding characteristics to make it an EDC.

Is Ti no good as a blade material? I am really tempted by (but cannot afford) the Ti version La Griffe.

I have the MPT Ti. I did alot of research on Beta Ti before the purchase. If anyone knows how to make a knife from Beta Ti, it's Mission.
Mine came hair shaving sharp first off. It is a very sharp knife, beautifully made, and light. Nice 1/4" thick blade. It's not a chopper, but I didn't buy it for that. It kept an edge after cutting rope, paper, carpet, tarps, etc. for a few days of light use. It's still sharp but needs to be touched up. No folds or burrs on the edge. I am currently waiting on the Mission sharpener. I got one for the corrosion resistance. I also found the handle on the MPT to be one of the most comfortable I have ever held. Mission says they are changing the handle soon. I don't know why, it works fine.
The sheaths feel light and cheaply made. I wish they provided a sturdier sheath. Time will tell whether it holds up. Still a nice sheath.

I don't think they are for everyone; but if you want something thats rust proof and strong then check it out. The MPK's and MPT's are really, really nice.

The Mission's real character is in the Ti models. But If you want an EDC I might suggest the steel version.

Cheers,
Hal
