ML knives are one the best you can buy IMO. He is a great guy, an will hook you up great. His leather is top notch, and his fit and finish are flawless.

Ditto - all the way 'round. I want to get his Bushcrafty-looking blade myself.
These are some of his work. Excellent working knives that take a great edge. He takes the time to stop and snap a pic for you as he completes your knife. I got two or three e-mails with pics as he finished these.

I have a Woods and Bush in birds eye maple. Great knife, just feels a little big for my hands sometimes. And I haven't used it as much as I would like to.

I carried and heavily used my Woods & Bush Knife all last winter, and all summer long, this year, on a number of Pacific Northwest wilderness adventures. The knife is a stellar performer (balanced real well, comfortable, for long hours of heavy and delicate woodcarving and utility tasks) and I just thoroughly enjoy using it. Too, I had several students in my last wilderness survival skills class grow VERY fond of the knife when I briefly let them see (they used the knife) what a well-designed, very sharp knife is capable of. I almost had to wrestle with a couple of 'em to get the knife back! Great kids who know a great knife when they see one. :)

I own a few of Matt's knives and have complete confidence in the ones I have. This ML Woods & Bush Knife is convex-ground, and has generous palm swells for my XL-hand (poor photo of the handle). The heat-treat on this blade is spot-on. This photo was taken when the knife was fairly new. Buy one, you'll like it!

great looking knife danny... which frost river pack is that?? i like it..:)

matt is also an avid primitive archer/bowhunter...

Matt is first class. I have five of his blades, including a woods and bush. They are rather large knives IMO so I asked him to scale mine down. He will go out of his way to give you what you want. His Kepharts are incredible as well.

I hear nothing but great things about ML knives. One from Matt is next on my list. Every knife put up here looks awesome. :D

Mike,

Thanks. My wife actually ordered the pack for me and she said that they were calling it the "Field Knapsack" at the time. Unfortunately, I have been told that Frost River has gone out of business. I own several of their excellent packs and, IMHO, they offered a better bargain than Duluth Pack (some of their employees had worked for Duluth, I believe). I own a number of Duluth Packs too, but the Frost River's are my personal favorites.

Both Matt and I participate in historical reenacting and this is where I was first introduced to Matt and his knives. I didn't know that he enjoyed primitive archery, however. That is good to hear! :)

Yes, Matt will do his best to modify any of his models to fit and serve your needs. Having an XL-hand, I usually have a real hard time finding a handle that comfortably fills my hand - something I can work with for hours and not have a sore hand at the end of the day. My Woods & Bush has that requested larger, longer handle that just works for me. I am not an admirer or fan of tapered, thin, square, slippery scales seen on a number of "bush" knives. This is a handle that I can hang onto when wet, sweaty, or in the middle of blood and guts, etc.

Another real nice ML for camp or utility.

You're killin' me! I really gotta get one of those!!

Most of what I've heard about Matt's knives are how great his convex grind is. I was wondering if anyone has experience using his scandi ground knives and if they are just as good as his convex?
