ORIENTAL INSPIRATION

Dimensions: OAL 13" (330mm) with a blade of 8" (200mm) long by 1.377" (35mm) wide and a spine thickness of 7/32" (6mm).

Steel: O1 High carbon steel.

Blade Finish: Hand forged steel, Polished edge.

Handle Materials: Bone and buffalo horn.

Sheath: Handmade wood case, vertical carry.

I like the ferrules, if that is the correct term in this case. Have been thinking about a similar arrangement for a puukko soon to be in the works. Also really like the pinned wooden sheath.

I think you are talking about the fuller, a beveled groove on the blade.
 
No I originally thought the horn pieces were blued metal. If that were the case it would seem more like a ferrule than a guard. But they are bone so what is that called, a spacer?

Very nice--cool take on the Japanese tanto, Samurai culture meets 1840's US frontier...
 
Man that is such a cool take on a tanto! I love everything about it, especially how you blended in that tanto tip (yakote) to give is just enough "crispness" but not over power the blade. Awesome sheath too, I can't see a seam on in no matter how hard I look! Thanks for sharing man :)
