Has anyone put the MM Mountain Man or a Hartsfield Bowie through their paces? With all the lopping going on I'd like to know how these blades perform. No "smack-talk" please.

Haven't used the Hartsfield Bowie but I did own a Force model once and it cut pretty well. It wasn't a chopper per se but it did impress me. I'd feel it would be a safe bet that a Hartsfiled Bowie would perform very well. I have used the Mineral Mountain stuff and found it works just OK with the supplied thick edges. After a reprofile to thin out the edge they worked really well and worth more than worth the asking price :)

I have one and it works very well, but Bill is right, the edges had to be thinned out. He has some sort of "parkerized" coating on the blade that I really like, wish I knew what it was, I really like it. The knife is well balanced, and has a very large micarta handle, almost a hand and a half, but it gives you a variety of holding positions. Really one of the most comfortable big choppers I have, but the sheaths, well, they're pretty thin, best to get an aftermarket one.

Bill-Your blades are beautiful. Thanks for the response. I''l share your name with some friends.
