mmm...Talisker

Cobalt , you out there? Come back to us.

Cobalt who? Oh, that guy, he drinks that cheap Scotch and beer! He is just hiding out until Blade. Go ahead and drink one for him............

.

While Talisker and several other high-quality single malts are almost dirt cheap (at least in Europe), they beat the hell out of much pricier blended scotches with expensive labels... Then again, degustibus et coloribus non est disputandum...

Cheers, mate!

How much does a bottle of Talisker go for in the US?

I'm from Scotland so it's about $54 for a bottle (of the 10 year old).

Always felt the Scots pay more for their own booze than others do, might be the infamous tight Scottish gene flaring up in my mind though.lol

It really does depend on the bottling.

I usually only buy from one of my local military Class 6 stores (it's great to be a vet!), where I can get the 10 year old for a little less than that.

BTW, I'm rather surprised Cobalt hasn't shown up. A title like this will usually attract his attention.

About the same here, perhaps a little less. Have a guy from Glasgow doing some work in the shop who commented on the price but also commented on the fact that some really nice ones never make it out of Scotland.

He was really amazed at the cost of smokes. $8/pack in Scotland, $2.75 here. Marlboro Red.

That's the 65-70% tax on spirits the UK government imposes on you. Here in Japan (supposedly the most expensive country in the world) the sales tax is only 5% (plus the shipping fees and import duty) so a bottle of Talisker 10 year old goes for roughly $30-35 depending on the exchange rate. This makes all scotch here about half the price of Scotland in fact and results in me having a much better collection (all 'users' I assure you) of whisky here than I could ever afford in Glasgow!

Was in Sierra Leone about a year ago and picked up bottles of whiskey there for about half the price they were at home.

Always find it pretty messed up when stuff made here is then cheaper to buy in another country.

Hopefully if my vacation goes ahead in September then i'll bring a few bottles over. Will post here about a month before I know for sure i'm coming. Then i'll smuggle a few bottle in for those who want.

sorry guys but between work, new home stuff, medical issues and other things, I have been out a lot as you've noticed, part of it is so I do not buy more when I need to sell:D

I'll definitely be at Blade, but I'll be eating at MiceeDee's:D

I had to sell my old Porsches and purchased another slightly cheaper one recently it is not as fast as the old ones but it has more room for beer. Someone told me it use to be owned by 1whobuys:
