........on my cast iron griddle. Man I love cast iron......

KA-BAR and bacon grease. Doesn't get much better than that.

Oh dear heavenly Lord that filtered bacon grease looks like solidified nectar sent from God! Would anyone else eat that with a spoon? Or melt it and drink it? Or soften it and dip chips in it? Or...

Filtered Bacon Grease.

Righteous on so many levels!

As a user of bacon grease, how does one filter it? Metal strainer? Pour through? Or is this some new wave reverse bacon osmosis process.

Awesomeness abounds!

My jar looks exactly like that! I just cram a paper towel in a funnel and let'er drip. Works perfect every time.

Tis easy to accomplish! A #4 cone paper filter in a wire straining basket.....or as also mentioned, a paper towel fashioned in the same manner. Make it into a "cone" and fold over the bottom to catch the bits...

This is not much different than rendering deer tallow or any other animal fat. The process is fairly simple....heat to liquid and filter over and over again. The more you filter, the cleaner the render. This works equally for suet, as well as lard or any other animal fat for it's varied uses:

I like the brown "unbleached" coffee filters, for coffee and all! That bleached white paper is nasty with dioxins & such. I wouldn't want to contaminate my bacon grease. Folks can talk trash about it, just like they do butter, but I'll take the good stuff that folks have eaten for centuries over the plastic margarine and trans-whatever fatty acids.

Speaking the truth there neighbor! My daughter (shes 12) taught me how to make butter by shaking cream in a jar. If you haven't tried that just google it. Good stuff! And you get butter milk as a by product! The craziest part of the whole thing is she learned that at school of all PC places...whodathunk.
