Went to the Blade show knowing I had 4 M.S. test daggers to pick up along with a few other things, but I also wanted a new knife to carry around the office.

It did not take too long for me to narrow things down to a Mnandi. After a coule of months of carry during the work week this knife has been everything I thought it would be and more. Great job CRK! I have enjoyed and will enjoy this knife for years to come. The clip design and ability to remove it or switch sides is nothing short of one of the best if not the best designs I have seen (and I despise clips in general :D).

I have been looking to pick one of these up as well. I will use it for similar duty as you use yours for. I'm glad to hear you are happy with it. Please keep us posted.

We have a casual office so most of the time I carry it in my slacks pocket by itself with the clip removed. One of the nice things about it is when I need to dress up it carries clipped in a shirt pocket and looks like a fine pen. It is light but quite tough enough to take on any task that a small blade would be used for. In all honesty it is more than able to take on tasks that I would normally acomplish with a larger blade.

Don't let the looks fool ya, it is not a dainty knife and it fits in well with the Reeve family of knives and the utility they are known for.

I've had mine for at least 6 months and I prefer it clipless in my left front pocket. Its cutting ability is remarkable. This is not a fragile little gentlemen's knife. It is heavy duty cutter in sheeple friendly clothes.

Man I want one so bad. I'm tempted to sell one of my small Sebbies so I can have the funds to get an Mnandi. It seems like the perfect knife for office/work hours. I don't think I can stand it much longer.

The appeal of the Mnandi is growing on me. Lately I've been finding I prefer something a little smaller than my small Sebbies for an EDC/peronal knife. There is probably a Mnandi in my future...especially if I keep reading reviews like Gus'.

I took the clip off my Redwood Burl Mnandi, and carry it in a leather slip pouch in my right pocket. Currently, I rotate between the Mnandi, an Umfaan, and a small regular Sebenza as an everyday carry. Today is small regular Sebenza day. :)

Danbo,
You Bastid :D, when you whipped that puppy out at our Thursday night dinner before Blade, you planted the seed. Figured any small folder good enough for Danbo had to be number one on my list of considerations. ;)

:D Yep, them Mnandis are some sharp little sumbeeotches, aren't they? :)

The Mnandi clip design is really unmatched.

The blade is long enough for out-of-doors chores, but slim enough to live in a shirt pocket or just carried in a pants pocket unclipped as well.

I must say though, that I see a William Henry Buttonlock on the horizon, which should give the Mnandi a run for its money!

Yeah, those button locks look pretty sweet, but the integral lock should be more fool proof......Just when I thought I was going to slow down, WHAM! Oh well, I guess I really should have a Mnandi to go with my small Sebbies and Umfaan.

Allright, dammit... enough on the merits of the Mnandi design and execution and "cut". I don't have the bucks for one right now, ya bastids. WwwaaaahhhHHH! (where is the crying emoticon)

:'(
:'-(

I gotcher "MMMM-nundi" right here... you can MMMMM all yah want...

My two Small Woody Sebbies are "dress slacks" carry in leather pouches.

This is one case where a "Small Woody" is a good thing. ("Hey, is that a Small Woody in your pocket, or are you jes happy ta see mee"...

But today, it B my day fo' jeans, and an RJ Q30, bro... clipped to my jeans, aww rite.

By the way, I figure we should coin this Ed Fowler-ism on the forum as a formal forum insult: "You don't know Cut". :footinmou

Or, alternatively, "You don't know anything about the Nature of Cut".

Ok, I'm over my Rant.

==> What do you guys figure the pros/cons of the Mnandi are versus the Small Sebbie?

I own a couple of small Sebies that I use heavily. The advantage of the Mnandi over those for me is it's size for carry in slacks and it looks a lot better if you decide to take the clip off. It is just a lighter knife with a less tactical look.

A samll Sebenza is as good as a large for most daily use, but it's still too heavy for some summer or dress carry. The Mnandi can clip to a light shirt pocket or the placket of a polo shirt and not weigh you down at all. I think it's lighter, and certainly more accessible than most neck knifes, and I like neck knives.

Yesterday I got my Mnandi with the Mammoth bark inlays. *sigh* Now that is a classic package. So far I keep it with that clip off, don't want to hide any of that beautiful handle. It's a little heavier than the wood inlay. The bark ivory has some blue spots and some creamy swirls. Abosutely gorgeous! Yep she's a user too, keep her in my left front pocket. I've always wanted a mammoth ivory knife and the Mnandi seemed to be a nice choice and I had to call Chris to special order it. I'll be enjoying that baby for many years! I'll have a picture ASAP. I want to get a digital camera but I'd rather spend the money on knives.:D   ;) :p Also I wish I could talk Chris into doing a small special Edition inlay in ivory.

Great idea... please do post pics. What did he charge you, if I could be so bold? And good for you to carry and use it.

More and more, I'm limiting the elements in my collection that can't be used. I'm down to maybe 4 or 5 fixed blades that are safe queens. All folders are fair game. If I could afford a Michael Walker or a Ron Lake, I'd carry it CAREFULLY in a leather pouch that had a closing flap.

This better be the last post on this thread - I don't have the bucks for a Mnandi right now either, and seeing this thread go BTTT every day is making me seriously consider trading my small plain Sebbie for a Mnandi

One question about the Mnandi, though - I can't tell from the pictures whether it's a hollow grind or a flat grind. Also, how thick is the blade compared to the Sebbie?

Oops, don't answer that, or this thread will go BTTT :)

The cost was $475 plus postage. The cost is inline with what a small custom knife with that material would cost. Mine doesn't have the gold and diamond like Jockes and I believe that would have put in it the $600+ range. I'm very happy with the results. I ordered it last April at the Solvang show. The blade on the Mnandi is thinner that the small Sebenza and like I said before, this knife is no weakling. It locks up solid and will perform every bit as good as its larger brother. The blade is almost like a fillet blade and is hollow ground.  :D ;) :p

For Rob: pros/cons of Mnandi & small Sebbie.

Both are excellent, but different. The Mnandi carries better as an EDC because it is feather light, smooth, and has a very low profile clip compared to the Small Sebbie. Mnandi can be carried in the front pocket of your shirt. It is easy to forget you are even carrying the Mnandi. The blade length is good and handle ergonomics are great. Thinner too.

The Small Sebbie has the handle and blade heft that make it feel more like a hard user to me. The exposed lock that you can wrap your index finger around gives me a little more confidence than the Mnandis scale covered lock.

Bottom line for me - own one of each.

I figured that'd be my bottom line also.

Thanks Geode, and others.

I didn't realize the Mnandi was so lightweight.

Now... about that pesky checking account-watching wife...
