This brand new Mnandi just came in.

I have an issue though, the action is gritty on close... I suspect it is the detent track not worn in yet, because when I disengage the lock bar it is nearly free swinging smooth. I have already opened it up, cleaned up and lubed it up. I don't think its a pinched washer thing because when I disengage the lock-bar it is drop shut smooth. I have been working it for about 30 minutes and it has gotten slightly better. Anyone have this similar problem?

Unlike my sebenza 21's my mnandi have never needed break in, but I have only had a sample size of 3. Just give it a few days.

Work the action for a while. Don't lube it loosen it, or open it all the way. Just work it back and forth and let the washers wear in a bit.

Beautiful knife, BTW.

I disassembled it, put it back together dry to break it in. It was certainly the detent track. It is much better. But WOW- My mnandi is absolutely drop shut smooth without the lock bar on the blade tang absolutely dry with obviously no blade play whatsoever. It is much smoother now and I will break it in some more.

My only disappointment is that it is a little more complicated putting this knife together than a sebenza because you can't really build from the lockside up. Anyone have any tips for an easier disassembly? This is only a nitpick though.

I have never taken one down, but is there a reason you can't build from the presentation side?
If I had one, I would do a How to, but I was somewhat sure, it was similar to a Sebenza.

You can, but the pivot goes in on the side that is not the lock bar. The pivot in the sebenza goes in from the lock side, so I can easily just layer them on top with the lock bar not getting out of the way.

I could switch the screws around but then I dont get the nice CR logo on the presentation side.
