Mnandi clip too stiff, any way to loosen it?

Title says it all. The Mnandi clip is very rigid, and almost impossible to remove the knife from the pocket. Any help?
 
What is the inlay ? I have had a few Mnandis and never had any problems with the clip, they are usually very well set up as far as tension. I suppose if you have a gnarly bit of mammoth or something it could make the inlay sit a bit higher than usual making the clip stiffer. Even then the clip is really not that rigid in my experience and it's shaped well so it all flows smoothly in and out the pocket.
 
The new clip on mine (cocobolo) is much tighter that my older clips. I'm now in the habit of pulling out from the bottom of the clip to get it to release more smoothly.

Mine is snakewood, but I do the same to remove the knife. I guess I shouldn't worry about losing the knife.
