I have decided to buy a Mnandi. I haven't realized there beauty until about a week ago. Now I have a uncontrollable desire to purchase one. It would be mostly to look at and admire. Because I'm an industrial electrician. So my dress up days are far and few between.
Anyways I just want to hear some feedback from some fellow Mnandi owners. I am leaning towards one of the dark cocobolo inlays. Just let me know what you think. If you have one for sale let me know. I'd appreciate it. I already own a small sebenza and I love it. Just need more knives just like the rest of ya.

About 15 threads down. There's a thread with over 1500 posts on the topic. "Mnandi: My latest obsession"

I have a mammoth ivory I bought 7 years ago that fits your category. I bring it out often to play with. I recently bought a cocobolo one for everyday wear. It is great and I do not feel bad about using it.

The inlays vary a ton. Some of my favorites I've seen are by FAR the wicked Box Elder inlays, while others are just "nice." Find a group shot of Franz's Mnandis, though. Guy has pretty much the best in every category!

Also, look at the difference in the updated Mnandi and the original. The blade steel is different, the pivot pin and nail nick are different. The clip is also different. Have fun.

Thanks guys! They are beauties! I'm just deciding when to pull the trigger. I don't think that I will be buying anything too exotic. Just because I would still like to carry and use it. But wow!!

I have an African Blackwood I'm going to put on the block soon. Email me if you're interested.

Fantastic knife. I have a rosewood inlay one which I EDC.
It's not just a cutting tool it adds to my well-being, as I fondle it often.
The wood inlay makes each one sepcial and while synthetic handles are fine for edc use there comes a time when you need something special.
Welcome to the craze.

I'm excited to be fondling one soon!! I was looking at my latest obsession post pics. And yes each one is unique. It would be so hard to choose. Now I can understand the Obsession!! Haha! And I don't even have one yet.

My recommendation would be to select one that speaks to you. The inlays can vary in color and pattern of the grain.
That's half the fun in my opinion, seeking out that special one.
Keep us posted, we love pics! :D

Oh and be careful, some online stores use "stock" photos. Ask first if that is the actual one you are buying.

Yeah I planned on calling to see the actual one's. I have found one that does speak to me. So I keep going back to that one!! So I'm sure that will be the one unless... Another speaks loudly out to me. I will definitely let you guys see when I get one.

It is a good time to buy a cocobolo mnandi, there are lots of choices at the moment. I love mine.

i have eight now and love them all....and I'm like you at being new to the obsession. I love each one for it's unique appeal.....can't think of any of them you could go wrong with. Buy, enjoy and beat the heck out of her....you absolutely won't be disappointed!!

I have one and it sees some everyday type of use with no problems. I reprofiled the original grind to ~35 degrees inclusive and touch up with a 40 degree micro-bevel and it cuts SO much better! I like to think of it as a locking slipjoint that gets tossed in my right front pocket with my truck keys.

Since I went to go purchase the coco bolo. I have been having difficulty on the one I want to purchase. I keep going back and forth... Some many pretty ones!

I've got one in walnut that I carry to work all the time and use the hell out of. The inlays are beautiful. The clip has gotten pretty banged up, but it just adds character.

Well everyone I have purchased a cocobolo today. And I should have it by Tuesday! I will post pics when it arrives. Thanks for all your ideas and comments. Keep em sharp my friends!!
