Thinking of buying a mnandi and would appreciate any thoughts/experiences. Also, what's a fair price for one with Box Elder burl inlays and a raindrop Damascus blade? Thanks.

I think they are a great little gentleman's pocket folder..but for me,..it's a bit on the small side. Great quality stuff.

Fair price, I am assuming you are talking on the secondary market? They don't sell for much under MSRP on the secondary market that I have seen..If you find one for alot cheaper than the MSRP, beware of the knockoffs that you may run into. If I were to buy one, it would either be on the exchange here from someone reputable or from an authorized CRK dealer.

Found an authorized dealer on eBay who gives 10% off to military/police, which I am (retired) so I could get it for around $500. How does that sound? As for size, living in NYC small is good with the crazy laws they have here.

Seems like a decent deal to me for a new in the box Mnandi..
FYI- CRK doesn't condone dealers advertising lower prices..pretty much MAP is in effect..

I would recommend finding one to handle before dropping that kind of money.
They are great knives, I have had 5 in my collection. However, they are quite small even when compared to a small sebenza.
The choice of colors in the one you are looking at is stunning by the way!

Good advice. I've been carrying this custom by Frank Dilluvio for longer than I care to admit and it's only 4.5" overall with a 2.25" blade so the Mnundi should be just fine for me. Thanks.

if you have been carrying a knife that size you won't think the Mnandi is too small. That's the main concern mentioned around here, but that is usually a comparative to the sebenza. I have 3 and love them, they are very functional and beautiful. That's a good price your getting too.

I have two, one plain in Ebony and the second in ladder Damascus in cocobolo. They are wonderful knives and perfect for everyday use as long as your "everyday" does not include fixing barbed-wire fences, repairing cars, building skyscrapers, drilling for oil, saving lives, protecting the public, fighting wars, etc., etc. The DT Damascus is beautiful and sharper, I think, than S35VN. The Mnandi can take a pretty good beating, too. The raindrop/box elder is a very nice combination and I'm also tempted to buy one.

I'd recommend seeing at least a photo of the Mnandi you are considering before purchasing. Box Elder is one of the inlays that has numerous variations. Likewise, it's always nice to see a photo of the actual damascus pattern that you will be getting.

Thanks to all for your inputs. I pulled the trigger and got it. I did see the actual knife before I purchased. I know very well how many variations a burled wood can have. I'll post some pics when it's in hand, probably this weekend or early next week as I had to have it shipped to a friend in Conn.

I have pretty big hands and I still enjoy carrying a mnandi now and again. I am sure you will love it. :)

Well, it took a while but I final took delivery of my Mnandi today. Here are some pictures. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Super! Make sure to post a pic or two over in the Mnandi thread. It's a one stop thread for viewing all that is wonderful about the Mnandi!
