Mnandi. Is it as fragile as it feels?

I have been considering getting a Mnandi for a while, so I went to a local store to check one out.

It looks great, and I know that the materials used to make it are of the highest quality, but it just felt "light and fragile".

I am realistic, and do realize that it is a gentlemans knife and not meant to chop wood or stab through armor, but it left me wondering if I would be disappointed. I decided not to buy one. Yet.....

I am going back today to "feel" it again. I have become somewhat obsessed with getting one and I guess that I just want to be sure.

I was hoping that those of you who have owned and used a Mnandi can comment on the overall performance and durability of this knife.

I think the Mnandi IS a tough little knife. It IS light, as it is made of titanium, but don't let the lightness fool you!!

Thanks TKC. I thought more people would have commented on this:confused:

Anyway, I had a chance to trade for one (sometimes that seems better than actually spending the $$$). It should be here Saturday and I can see for myself. The great thing about CRK is that if you decide that you don't like it, someone will always take it off of your hands.:p

I have a mnandi with camel thorn inlay for few weeks.
Don't worry, it's a very very good gentleman folder. Very sharp and tough for its size. Not a prybar or a throwing knife :D
If you look for a good little knife as EDC, this one is perfect for an office work and an urban carry.

I too expected much more of a response from the CRK fold too!! But, it REALLY is a tough little knife!! Don't let the light weight fool you!

Hi. I have had mine for about a week. I really love this knife! I work in a machine shop and also spend some time out doors. I am going to go out on a limb here and say this is much more than a gentleman's folder. Sure, it is a work of art. I used my loop to look the whole knife over and there isn't a flaw to be found, even on the complex clip. Now I don't use my EDC as a pry bar and never have. I have a Multi-tool for that (Spirit!) But I do cut cardboard, plastic wrap, tape, nylon strapping, strips of rubber, and wood. The Mnandi handles them all with great ease and I never feel the knife is going to give even a little. Even with a lot of pressure on it. It is a great combination of a fine duty cutter and medium duty cutter. If I had to, in an emergency, use it for heavy duty cutting this would be the EDC I would want with me.

The Mnandi is quite deceptive. I too thought it rather fragile. Then one day I decided to do some gardening. I cut up about 4 good sized tomato plants with the Mnandi with no problems. I also use a Mnandi at work. It's cutting ability and "stoutness" have exceeded my expectations by very large margin. Looks can be deceiving!

The Mnandi is and has been my every day carry for 1.5 years.
It is one tough knife, you will not be disappointed with its performanceQ

I've carried a Blackwood Mnandi as EDC for about 2 years, and it's a great little knife!
It felt much more solid (and heavy) than the WH T10 it replaced, and THAT was a good knife too.
Depending on what you do (of course) it'll be a great knife if you look after it.
I love mine! :D

The Mnandi is a great cutter, and is tougher than it appears. It's a miniature survival tool masquerading as a gent's knife .... ;)
