Mnandi - Ivory and Damascus

Thanks to Mike Young from CRK and one of my favorite CRK dealers, I just received a Mnandi inlaid with inner cut mammoth ivory and a Thomas stainless steel ladder damascus blade.

Just a gorgeous folder that is hard to capture the image of (for me) because the mammoth ivory is some of the nicest I have seen. Cream colored with excellent grain. The combination of damascus and ivory is elegant.

If I figure out how to take some better pics, I will post them.

Glad I got that foolishness out of my system. Man what a beautiful knife!!!!! Congrats to you and man am I jealous!! ;) ;) ;)
 
Awesome knife... I have a similar one on order (only bark ivory, not inner cut) :D

Unfortunately the lead-time for SS Damascus & Mammoth ivory is not short :(

PiterM - IIRC, the mammoth bar is coming in before long, but you are right about the dreaded wait on a damascus blade. I could say something cheery like waiting makes the prize more sweet, but I'd be a hypocrite. Let's have that mammoth bark now! BTW, the Mammoth Bark + Damascus is about the top of the pyramid for a Mnandi, IMO.

Bark ivory with zebra damascus.
Should be ready within 4 weeks.

I just received a blue mammoth bark Mnandi with a high-contrast DT Reptillian blade! :eek: Absolutely gorgeous combination! For fun, I had them throw in an extra S30V blade too - just for the sake of variety.

I have had other high-end custom folders, but the functional elegance and superb workmanship of CRK keeps me hooked.

That Mammoth Ivory Bark is just awesome. Beautiful damascus too. Congrats to DavidC!!

David - cut anything with the Mnandi yet? ;)

Dave, that is a great question. I fully intended to when it was ordered, but I'm really not sure. I can tell you the blade is plenty sharp and begging to be used though. If I don't use it, I will have a hard time justifying keeping it.

Geode: I have cut some tape, and paper, but with the plain blade. The Reptillian blade was the last one at CRK, and they said that they weren't going to have any more in this pattern for a long time, so I will be gentle with that. I am carrying it now, if that counts. :p
 
DavidC's knife is really nice too!

Jeff, that's funny! I think you should go for it. I'm like you, if I can't use it for something then no reason to have it. I do want a Mnandi. I'll have to remember to get something plain so I'll carry it. ;) May watch for a used one. I was actually starting to get a little ahead financially until I started browsing these forums again. :rolleyes: :(

We do think alike - I have both the S30v and damascus blade for the Mnandi. I also have a Snakewood 'user' that gets carry time, and a brand new Desert Ironwood that is just sitting in the drawer.

DavidC - way to go putting that beauty to use.
