Hello,

I was in South Africa last weeks.
Beautiful country.

In Pilgrim Nest (a small village)
I was able to found a Mnandi Knock Off for less than 5 dollars !!!

Here is the picture.
This little knife is a POJ of course. But for me it was a strange experience to go in Chris mother country and find a copy of one of his knives there !!!

Oh I forget its price !

I bought it for 35 rands !

(1 South African rand = 0.12745 U.S. Dollars
So I paid it 4.46 dollars !!!)

Go figure...

Cheers

I live in SA. D.O.W also copies kershaw spyderco etc. but its not worth it. the steel quality lacks tremendously.

Nemo
dis you enjoy your trip to our country? where did you go?

Ps. Pelgrums Rus was a Christian outpost during the colonization of South Africa.

Hello Marthinus.

I was in Durban, Capetown, Pretoria, Kruger Park...
Looking for the Big Five, visit the Culligan Mine, cross the Swazyland, talk with Penguins...
And South Africa is such a gorgeous country.
The colours (the green of the foliage) and the changing of the light on the gigantic landscape is unique ! I'm back but I feel like I left some of my heart in Franschhoek where I enjoyed the Pinotage Wine (Fleur du Cap, my favorite !)!!!

Yes, I would really love to move there !

Cheers

Nemo

I am glad you enjoyed it so much! We do have some of the most unique nature and sceneries in the world. I love our country. I love the fact that we can drive a couple of hours and go to the Kruger National Park. I love it there!

But you should come again soon! You have only scraped the top there is so much more to see! BTW Chris Reeve is used by some nature conservationists in the Kruger. They always have a knife with them and its nice to talk to them about it.

IIRC, I've seen at knifezilla a small Sebbie knockoff. I really don't know why someone should bother getting one...

Please Marthinus,

show us some pictures !
You are lucky enough to be a couple of hours away from Kruger Park !

I wish I had a sebenza, but I am still saving up for one. So my main knives are spyderco and recently a handmade knife from Burger. www.swordcane.com

I think it's other side of your elephant, isn't it !

Bonsoir,

We were on the very south gate of the park.
I know, Kruger close at 18h00 ( 18h30?).
This was a private reserve with a nice stone hill to watch the dusk.
We were lighting the bush with 3 spotlights by vehicules.
trust me: we saw nothing at all !
But it was fun.
Cold (speed and wind) but tons of fun ! (12 hours of jeep by day)

God, I love this country !

So please give us more detail.
Are you in Pretoria, or near joburg?
(I wish I could drive to the biggest park in Africa in a couple of hours.)

Cheers
JM

I currently study in Pretoria but my Parents are near the airport. My flat mate's parents live near Palaborwa about an hours drive from the gate, so we usually stop there after six hours drive, we take it slow and enjoy the adventure, have a beer and a 'braai' and drive to the gate the next day, or we book into some of the krugers camps.

Last year was a 2 week adventure from camp to camp, but that was with my girlfriend. :)
