I'm at a loss for words.

No. I think it is just a matter of how the the "raw" blades have been cut out of the piece of ladder damascus. I saw another Mnandi with ivory and with the same ladder pattern somewhere arround here 1, 2 month ago. So I guess both blades have been cut from the same piece of ladder damascus and both Mnandi have been built at CR within the same batch.
 
Beautiful set! I have not yet got myself a Mnandi as they are just not my style... But with this combination, I doubt if I could hold off... Especially love the one that is 2nd from the bottom...
