Are there any dealers that carry the old style nail nick? Also, Does anyone have any idea about why Chris Reeve switched to the new style? Or if they might eventually change back? It seems like everyone unanimously prefers the old style. Or if you DO prefer the new style, why? Thanks, I'm trying to get a good understanding of this knife before I spend so much;)

CRK is always evolving and changing and perfecting. It never ends. Some of us like the changes, while others not so much. To CRK though, its usually changes that are improving the design, wether we see it that way or not. Over the course of time though, CRK has always been right.

I have had several mnandi over the years, but all were the older style, so I am not experienced with the newer version. I know the older style was amazing and I find it would be hard to improve it....!!!

The old nail nicks are hard to find. They go for a premium. They are much easier to open with one hand.

This brand new Mnandi is the first newer one I could open with one hand. Apparently CRK is grinding the damascus blade near the tang on the lockside (not shown) to eliminate the gritty feeling and it makes opening easier, but I do not know if this applies to all new Mnandis.

Is is possible to open the new ones one handed?

I prefer the updated version because of the new clip and the stronger detent. I carry my knives clipped or loose usually and have had a knife open in my pocket before. Not fun, and I will take a stronger detent over the ease of opening because of this.

So how does the "unique nail nick", the ones that were produced from 06-07, fit in?
