I just got on the list for one of the next Mnandi's due out very soon from Chris Reeve, with luck I should have it next week (or soon after).

Could one of you lucky owners take a picture, scan or otherwise describe the clip to me? I am maily interested in how the clip keeps tension on your pant pocket when clipped in place.

I have only seen pictures looking down on the clip, from this perspective it looks like the clip is flat, which would not seem to offer much retention. I'd like to see a side view if possible..

Is there a bend in the clip to add tension?

BTW, did I say I ordered my Mnandi today? :D :D :D

The clip on the Mnandi exemplifies the design and craftsmanship that goes into all of the CRK products. It is like a piece of jewelry in and of itself.
Viewed from the side, the clip begins to thicken from about midpoint of its length toward the tip. Maximum thickness is about 6-7 mm from the tip, then it tapers back up to the the tip.
Look at the pocket clip on a pen; all clips of this type have a raised portion underneath at the tip that applies pressure to the pocket when it is carried. Most inexpensive pens simply roll the end of the clip's tip back under itself.
The Mnandi clip, however, is fully machined out of titanium, no stampings here! And the tapered thickening on the underside of this clip goes one step further - it is progressively scalloped across it's length, which will add some "bite" to the material that it is clipped to.
The Mnandi clip is a miniature work of machined art! In the latest Mnandi I received, the "CR" logo is now engraved in miniature on the flat area of the clip; just another tastefully executed detail that exemplifies the excellence, elegance, and craftsmanship of this knife!
What is bad is that I prefer the Mnandi without the clip, and I end up simply removing it. What a shame that I don't end up using the clip that has been so meticulously designed and crafted!

I prefer the Mnandi without the clip, and I end up simply removing it.

Another nice thing about the clip design is that when removed there is only a small pinhole on the handle scale left unfilled. On most knives you will have several unsightly screw holes and perhaps a recess to fit the clip into. The introduction of the clip recess insert for the Sebenza was a nice addition for many of us, but the design of the Mnandi really is the best of both worlds.

Thanks guys, that helps give me a better visual.

I'm still hopeing someone can throw up a picture.

Does the clip seem like the weak point could possibly be at the mounting screw? Appears to get a little more narrow there...

G2 --> If you read this... are you buying one of these to make sheaths for? I think a beautiful canted one in black would be just what the doctor ordered. :D

Well as luck would have it, I am in contact with CRK right now and waiting an answer, not sure how long it will be but just have to get one!

You can be sure I'll post my findings when she arrives!

Thanks Gary, when Mine comes in I'll let you know if my dealer has more to spare. If he does I'll drop you a note and see if you want it, may be a little quicker.. I know he's getting 5 of them but don't know how many are spoken for.

Go to www.knifeart.com and look at the sold out Mnandi redwood burl. There they have a picture of the clip side. Nice little knife. I wonder if they will come left handed? Make sure that you go to the "Select by Maker" part and then go to the Chris reeve section. Then click on the picture of the Mnandi and it will show a front and back picture.

Thanks Scott Dog, I've been drooling over that one since they posted it.

But what I'm looking for is a side view of the clip side so that I can see how the clip engages the knife.

I've got a great understanding of it now since people described it so really I'm just looking for more pictures to drool over until mine arrives... :D

Scott Dog, when CRK announced the Mnandi, Anne posted that it would also be available in a left-handed version. When that will be is up in the air as the demand seems to be accelerating, and there is a certain backlog that needs to be managed. Of course CRK is always backlogged on Sebenzas, too. The right-handed version is close to being ambidextrous already, except that the lock is on the wrong side, so if you lefties just can't wait, I don't think you will lose too much functionality as is...
