This is my second knife in as many days. I'm looking to replace an old pocket knife. Wow! The Mnandi is amazing! It's exactly what I had hoped. Perfect size and build. I'm already on the hunt for another! Perhaps one of those coveted mammoths. Maybe even with Damascus blade. For now let me share what I have -here's my box elder beauty.

Never tire of Mnandi pics!!! And, oh .... the shades of box elder!! Love 'em all!

You know, the more I look at the Mnandi the more I like it especially the box elder wood. I think I'm going to have to put one on my short list, especially if I could find one that the grain looked as good as this one.

Again, congratulations on a fine looking CRK!

Thumbs up for box elder. I don't have a mnandi, but love the box elder on my small 21. I really like how it darkens with age.

Thanks everyone! I'm eager to get another, but having a hard time finding one as nice as the one above. Perhaps I should go with an ebony damascus blade to offer some variety.

Sigh, might as well get one before none can be found.

Not to hijack the thread, but ....

A year and a half or 2 years ago, it was quite difficult to find a Box Elder Mnandi or Sebenza ..... now there appears to be a glut of them. Not so much a factor of finding a BE Mnandi or Sebenza (large or small) ... just finding one that you find most appealing. The thing about BE is that the grain and coloring can vary greatly .... anything from very light blond, to deep golds, to reds and to greens. The burls (IMO) have the most character, but I have seen some regular BE that are fantastic.

Here are a few pics showing the difference in color/grain in some of my BE CRKs:

and, while not a CRK, here is the latest BE I received ..... which has coloring/grain very much like a Buckeye Burl:

This variation in color/grain is why BE is one of my favorite woods.
