Okay here is a chance to show off and help out a fellow Sebenzanist get his first Mnandi. I have been going to various sites looking at the variety of wood. It is almost impossible from the pictures posted to get an idea of the actual colors. Some sights what seems bright is very dark on another. I realize there will be some variation to grain patterns and shades, but what I have been finding is way off between sites. I am primarily looking at Bocote, Tambotti, and Lignum Vitae, but send me what you got or post it here. I appreciate any help or suggestions.

Droopy,

of the three woods you have listed, I think Tamboti has the richest look.

I would advise snakewood, box elder, or redwood burl as the nicest looking woods on a Mnandi. There is a thread in this forum showing some very nice shots of the snakewood. I would attach the photos, except for my membership status will not allow that.

Geode,
Thanks for the reply and advice. I ended up getting the African Blackwood from Rhesus Feces. I sent him a money order this afternoon.

Good luck with your next purchase.

Jocke,
Thanks for the pic. Of course with your photo talent, I think you could make a pile of dog droppings look good.

Jocke,

excellent photo collage. My snakewood Mnandi does not have the gold and diamond inlays, but you have captured the character of the wood perfectly.
