Hello! I got my first CRK folder today. Ironwood Mnandi. The pictures sure don't do it justice! Very nice knife.

My question - what are the notches for on the liner lock edge? They are two moon shaped notches just about even with the tip of the carry clip. Just curious more than anything...

Thanks in advance!

By your description it sounds like you are describing the lock bar scallops. This is a cut out relief in the lockbar to allow it to be "springy". :D

Almost all frame lock and many liner lock knives have some sort of scallop in them.

Enjoy the Mnandi, it is a swiss watch perfect knife.

Thanks nitrox1 - that was my theory, and you have confirmed it! My second nice folder. I've been a fixed blade guy up to now, and thought I'd expand my horizons. I'll go check my Terzuola and see if it has scallops...

I don't think Bob does scallops on his liner lock models.

Enjoy that Mnandi! Kick back and study it closely. The fit, finish, attention to detail are incredible. I am just blown away by the precision of that little sucker.
