I picked up a used Mnandi recently (my first one). When disengaging the lock, the blade falls from gravity alone. Is that normal? The pivot screw is fully tightened and I took it apart to make sure it was assembled correctly. I didn't see any damage to the bushing or washers. When the blade is fully deployed, there is no lateral or vertical blade play but when the blade is partially deployed and the lock pushed out of the way, I can feel a small amount of lateral play.

Birth card says it was made in 2011, so is it possible that it has just worn down to the point of being too lose?

It doesn't bother me really, but I might just send it to CRK for inspection.

Thanks in advance

If there is no lateral play in the locked position, I'd say you are good to go.
Enjoy!

I sent my Sebbie to CRK and had them replace the washers and asked them to make sure that it was perfectly CRK smooth. Mine drops too. As long as there is no blade play and it does not drop when the lockbar is pushing against the blade, you are good to go.

This is a 2013 Mnandi:

yes: Blade drops.
yes: lateral play when the blade is partially open.

So I guess it's normal, I have a small 2013 Insingo and the blade doesn't drop on gravity.

I was told this is how to tighten the pivot play by someone at CRK some time ago, and it worked for me on a Sebenza. Take a miniscule amount of the bushing (not the washers) using very fine emory papers on a piece of glass. Hold the bushing flat down and move in a figure eight motion to insure even pressure. Finish to a polish. Again, small amounts and then test the result. The only other way would be to order new washers and fit them in the same manner.
