Mnandi question

hello friends I’ve heard the new style nail nick Mnandi in Damascus is easier to open one handed. I was wondering if it still needs to be pinched open or can you just use your thumb? Thank you for any information!

The two that I own are indeed easier to open with just a thumb and I’m a standard Large glove guy.
