I came across a Mnandi and the blade near the opening cutout is marked 066. I seem to recall the first run of Mnandi that were made of Ziricote were serial numbered. Did CRK put serial numbers on other Mnandi? The guy said it was ironwood but I have my doubts. It just does not look like any ironwood I have seen. I'm guessing it is one of the first run of Ziricote inlay knives.

The first 200 Mnandi were numbered. Grab it if you can. Or PM me if you don't :D

I have a SNed redwood Mnandi that was a KnifeArt exclusive, but it was a two digit number. My first run model is 020, it really sounds like you have come across A rare find, Goofy Dufus!

...still learning from the masters.

I once owned one of the original serial numbered ziricote handled mnandis. Mine was marked 036. I can't believe I sold it! I'm such an idiot sometimes!

Don't worry yourself any further, as it is on its way to my house as I type. It is in fact a Ziricote model from the first 200 produced. The box got swapped in an estate/collector sale. I will be sending it back to CRK to get a new box and birthcard. Unfortunately, the birthcard will only show the year, not a specific day. It will, however, show the numbering and BG42. Doesn't really matter since I plan on carrying it ocassionally.....I say that now, but just like my P seb and NICA tanto it will probably not find its way into my rotation.

No worries, the knife is just what you think it is. Im sure you will be pleased.

Oh no! Any reason you decided against buying it?

Don't know about Thomason, but the only thing that stopped me from snagging it myself was that my collectable CRK quota is topped out for the time being. I do enjoy a keeping a peaceful marriage a good deal more than any knife after all :D

A couple of months from now....different story. Great snag.
