I'm in the market for my first Mnandi. I have narrowed it down to either a box elder or lignum vitae inlay, probably the lignum though. Anyways I have a few questions.

If I order a new one from CRK will it be Idaho stamped?

Also, they didn't have lignum vitae pictured on their site. Is it still available?

Also I'm kind of in a quandary as to whether or not I want take a chance ordering an unseen inlayed knife. I may not like the wood grain. Should I just wait for one on the secondary market where I actually get to see what I'm buying?

Thanks for your thoughts

they have a good resale value i would just order it. you might have to wait a while to see one in person. hell i order my car without seeing the woodgrain in person. thank god the poplar grey looked good in person.

... will it be Idaho stamped?

I have been thinking about a new one having stupidly sold not one but two ... but that Idaho Made stamp is a bit of a put off, you are right.

I'll be looking for an older stock one from a good dealer. Lignum V is nice :) I was just looking at one of those BArk River City Knives in that - very pretty

i just ordered lisa's pick for may 2011 small sebenza, and it has the 'idaho made' stamp

One way to avoid the wait and see exactly what you are getting is to google 'Chris Reeve mnandi' and you will find many reputable CRK dealers with mnandis in stock. Typically, they have a picture of the particular mnandi for sale.

Good looking box elder trumps the looks of lignum vitae to me. Google some images of the mnandi and feast your eyes on all the models.
