Mnandi Scales

I am considering making my own Mnandi scales.
Have any of you done the same?
I would like to hear what works and what doesn't.
Any patterns, measurements or thought on how to adhere the scales once complete would be appreciated.

Removing the original scales is the trick. Be careful. If done right, the old inlays become the template for the new ones.

3M VHB tape is used to reinstall the new scales.
