Mnandi Slip case mod idea

I have a fear of losing a knife, any knife, after losing a sentimental one at a theater some years back. I'm beginning to carry a CRK, kind of shocking since I mainly collect them, but my Box Elder Mnandi is special to me and I want to have it with me.
I'm thinking of taking the sheath to a shoe repair shop and asking for these modifications.
Thoughts?

how about having the snap in the middle, then you could just have the lanyard poke out through the left or right, without having to have a hole put in. I feel like having to unsnap, and then pulling at the lanyard to get out of the hole would get bothersome. i do like the snap idea, hence why i'm trying to find one of the old nylon pouches

김원진 thank you for posting to my thread. This is for a Mnandi and there is no lanyard on it. I want the snap for security of it not falling out of the sheath, especially since it's new and hasn't molded into the leather yet, and I desire the lanyard hole so I can attach it to a cord I use that is attached at my belt loop and then slid inside my slacks.

hah, i guess it would have been smart to see the mnandi part :p i think it would be great to have it that way then. Kind of like a chain wallet, but for a knife. When i carry my umnumzaan, i have it attached to a mcgizmo clip , and the other end attached to my belt loop. I think this little design will work out just peachy :) i love the crk slip cases, they're perfect size and add no bulk, can't wait to see how your final product turns out.

Thank you, I'll likely drop the sheath off on Monday unless someone here foresees a big problem with the mod.
You nailed it, just like a chain wallet. I know many men and women might have knife holsters on their belts, but I'm more of a pocket/purse type of knife toter.

The snap idea is good, but the lanyard hole really makes sense. I've been afraid the case might actually make the Mnandi more likely to slip out of my pocket, and having a lanyard would be great insurance. Please let us know what you think when it is finished.

This is something I have though about as well. I was thinking something along the lines of the "stiff neck" you see on dry bags would be a good way to go. That way it will keep it's self closed but be soft on the knife and have no extra parts. One could also have a lanyard grommet through one side for chain wallet style carry.

Here is a pic of the sort of thing I'm talking about. A bit of swanky stitching with some soft leather over a stiff plastic inner wouldn't be hard to do. :)

Right, I'm very worried it will slip out of my pocket without being tethered to a belt loop. I suppose if I wore skinny pants, I wouldn't have to worry. haha

Interesting idea and I'm looking forward to your pictures.
Been a busy week, so I didn't make it to the shoe repair shop. I should have this done by next week.

I'll ask if they have any stiff neck type material, that is better than a snap for sure!

Had the mod done yesterday. Liking it a lot so far.

Thank you, so far it's working out great! Two days in the pocket with minimal worry.

That seems to have turned out just how you wanted it. It's always nice when that happens. :)
