Mnandi Slip Case / Sheath

I currently carry my Mnandi in a CRK slip case and even though it has worn in well, it is a little big for the Mnandi imo. Based on a recent thread regarding a sheath for the Sebenza, I decided to contact sheathmaker (Paul Long) for a Mnandi sheath. I keep the clip on my Mnandi and unforuntately he does not have a pattern for this. His pattern is based on a Mnandi without the clip and he does not believe that it works well with the clip on the knife. I am going to send him a Mnandi with a clip so that he can make a slip case for me. Once he has my knife and comes up with a pattern, he will be able to duplicate this for anyone else that would like to order one.

He did mention that it will have a bulge for the clip and will look different than his other sheaths but I am fine with this. Once I receive it I will be sure to post photos. I am ordering one without the clip on the sheath btw.

Can't wait to see it... Been wanting one for my umfaan,but he don't have a pattern for it either.....
 
I am getting black sharkskin. Paul recommended this and said that it not only looks great but is extremely durable.
 
Pauls Work is amazing, I personally only have one sheath from him I got with a Ron Newton knife and the work on that is just spot on. I can't wait to see what he does for your Mnandi, I have been playing with soft lined kydex for my EDC Mnandi but I haven't got anything I'm happy with as yet. :):thumbup:

He told me the same for my Sebenza sheath. I think I am just going with tan cowhide as I am going to get a belt sheath with snap closure. I am considering going with an exotic inlay depending on pricing.
 
I have two mnandi sheaths from Paul. They work fine with or without the clip. My reddish black ostrich sheath works and looks great with my ironwood mnandi. It has the new clip design,with the clip logo facing out, it looks perfect and is very functional. The CR logo looks like it was designed to go there. I have an older camel thorn, I took the clip off because the grain is so beautiful and I carry it in a black sharkskin, pivot down, flat screw head up and facing out. Looks super cool and fits like a dream.

Good to know but I already shipped one of my Mnandis to Paul this morning and he should receive it on Friday. Hopefully I will have the sheath by the following Friday at the latest. As noted above, I will be sure to post photos.

I did not think I would receive the sheath until the end of the week but it showed up this morning. Paul received my knife on Friday and somehow managed to make the sheath and get it to me today. The sheath is very well made and fits the Mnandi with the clip perfectly. Now to wear it in.



To make my day even better a Box Elder Burl Mnandi showed up today as well. I ordered this one from a dealer and had no idea what it looked like. My first one with the new clip. It has been a good Monday.
