Mnandi Thumb Notch Change

Has anyone noticed a change recently to the thumb notch on the Mnandi, or am I just late to the party here? I bought one with a birth date of March 25, 2012 and it has a longer notch with an almost sharp top edge, making it easy to open one-handed. I got another with a birth date of June 29th, 2012 and the thumb notch is smaller and has a rounded top edge, making it almost impossible to open one-handed. Anyone else notice this? Any ideas why this change was made? Here are some photo links:

All of mine are pre-June 2012 and look like the bigger thumb notch. Interesting, I do see what you mean.
What does the face side look like?

Aesthetically, the more rounded notch looks more pleasing to my eyes than the older version. If I had to choose one over the other, I would try and get my hands on the older version for the ability to open it one handed.

Face side looks the exact same, no other changes. Well...maybe one very minor change, but it could just be a result of the production process and not necessarily across the board...the blade is a little shorter by maybe a couple of millimeters.

Reminds me of my one-handed closing problem with my Umnum. Interesting change with the Mnandi.

I heard back from the dealer that I got it from that CRK has made this change to the newer ones. For the life of me I can't figure out why they'd want to make it nothing more than a nail nick now. I can't imagine anyone being able to open it one handed anymore. It was a challenge enough before, but with this change it's close to impossible. I can't even grab it with thumb on the one side and middle finger assist on the other. Very odd. Still, an absolute gorgeous knife no doubt - and I'm sure they have their reasons.

I just checked and my Box Elder Burl's birth date is 6/29/12. I personally do not notice much of a difference opening with one hand. I do position my thumb almost perpendicular to the blade when opening with one hand so this could be the reason I don't have an issue.
