Mnandi - with no inlay?

I have carried a simple plain small Sebenza Classic for a few years and like the way the Ti handle gets a bit of patina.

I've wanted a Mnandi for a while and was wondering if CRK ever make a Mnandi with no inlay (or can you order one that way)?

unfortunately they do not and i am quite certain they will not build a one-off for you. i do wish they would expand the material used to something other than woods and mammoth. maybe some bone or micarta styles. wouldn't that be nice. :)

i do have a mammoth mnandi. i carry it daily with pride.

Same as above, they have never made one without an inlay. I've talked to the folks at CRK about it, and specifically about doing one with canvas Micarta, and I was told they actually did make one that way as a test, but they all thought it didn't look right.

The Mnandi is a gentleman's knife, so they plan on keeping the inlays on the up and up (though I still think linen Micarta would look pretty sharp). Actually though, some of the woods they use are pretty dense, so if you get one with Ebony or Cocobolo then you can use it pretty hard without worrying about the inlay.

I too would like to see a no inlay Mnandi. I have wondered about just removing the inlay
to create such a beast, not had the courage yet.

IMO the Mnandi is the best way to show off the brilliant woods available plus with a damascus blade it is truly a "Gentleman's" knife. Check out the thread "best of the best of mammoth ivory" and I think you might agree.

Straight Ti or Micarta are great on a seb which is more of a "tactical" knife.

Couldn't agree more. The inlays are what "makes" the Mnandi. It's my favourite folder and that's because of the inlays. I've got 9 of them! I mean look at this:

Would you remove the inlays on a beauty like that? (that's desert ironwood by the way)

Kind regards,

Jos

Beauty of a knife JOS, great picture as always. I concur, the Mnandi wouldn't be what it is without the inlays. Of course I'm still hoping for a micarta addition... My ivory daily carry.

I don't buy knives with inlay. It's not my style. Not even Micarta. Pure Ti is my favorite handle material, and I have always wished they made an all Ti Mnandi. It would still be elegant, and it would still be a gentleman's knife.
