Mnandi wood question

Can you identify the wood?
I was given this knife from a friend’s family member without a box and wondered what type of wood it is.

I think that's African Blackwood.

My guess is a Rosewood type... grain looks too open for Ebony or Blackwood.

That does help. It's not Blackwood. It's also likely not Cocobolo.

Desert Ironwood, maybe? Some of the DIW that I’ve seen has a similar grain to that one.

Oh well...having never had a Mnandi I did not know this. But I think it looks like Macassar ebony.

Looks almost exactly like my Macassar Ebony. I would echo that.

I say Mac ebony as well. But I’ve seen plenty of older ironwood that resemble that.
