Went scouting for an upcoming backpacking trip over in MO today. Mark Twain Nat. Forest around Lake Wappapello. Beautiful place and a great day for some hiking.

Also wanted to break in a couple of new daypacks. Two thumbs up for the Ion 20s.

The trail stayed with the lake most of the way which made for some great scenery, especially with the leaves off.

I had my always present 14. I can't imagine a better hiking blade. Only the D2 will bump this one.

Here's a weird rock. No idea what caused this but it was interesting.

I know what caused this one.

It really is a great spot and we have plans to do some paddling and backpacking there soon.

Looks awesome. Really looking forward to hitting the trails again.

Well MO ain't as horrible as I remember it. You do a review if those packs yet? Oh, you still ain't made it up our way yet...

Great pics! Looks like a great day for a hike - brisk clean air and great scenery. The obligatory Becker shots were cool too :)

It's in the southeastern corner E. Lake Wappapelo. It's a fair sized lake with very good fishing.

Oh, we'd love to come visit.

Cool pics Trade. Your spot looks a lot like a place close to my and Muphs place called Yellowood. Almost looks like you are there.

Is that the Ozark Trail? I've backpacked the 225 mile continuous trail many times over weekends & vacations. We (wife & I) have never hiked any of the disconnected sections, Victory, Wappapello or North Fork. We are winter hikers. I have a strong dislike of heat, ticks, skeeters and snakes.

Did you see any hogs or hog signs? They have quite a bit of bacon at the lake!!

In fact most of Southern Missouri is ate up with them; I can't hike any trail without seeing hog signs.

Jon

This was a section around the lake. Didn't see any hog sign but had deer following the truck...:D

What time y'all going to be at the trail head tomorrow?
