Posted as off topic since I don’t think it matters much performance wise, but is the Magnum Silent Knight technically a pre-2002 Infi composition blade?
It was released in 2006 but the blanks were said to have been cut out ten years prior.

I joined in 2006, but don't recall ever reading that. Interesting.
Here’s the original release thread

all I know is they sure are pretty :)

The balance on that one must be a dream! Whats the handle?

They’re also much tougher than they look. I was a little hesitant to really work mine, given I’m not sure how a warranty would work since they're somewhat irreplaceable. After a few years on the forums I have no doubt Jerry would make it right.

Sometimes I think I can replace an INFI knife with a similar designed blade and still beat on it like I’m used to doing. Here’s a tip, DONT. Trying to replace your INFI with anything else (unless it’s a blade/tool busse hasn’t made and it fulfills a different purpose) will only lead to disappointment.
You can tell which blade is not INFI. Left out the logo since both of these makers have amazing warranty and the axe one was already replaced. Still with INFI this is hardly EVER an issue to begin with.

Sorta back on topic, using my silent knight, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of it being the original composition hardened to 60hrc. I personally don’t see much of a difference in performance, but it’s nice to know.

Anybody know the story about why there’s two types? Earlier/later?

dobermaniac dobermaniac ‘s type:
- Less forward extension on the handle
- No lanyard hole

Jaxx Jaxx ’s type:
- More forward extension on the handle
- With lanyard hole

my guess would be ;

Hand made kind of one of a kind back then.

Not a normal offering

Been digging in back threads since I had forgotten which year...
Mine is satin/hand smoothed (I think that these CS infi SK's all were) black canvas micarta, & came from a KC show for sure, probably fall '09. (What year & season did they cancel because of flooding? 🤔..)
Earliest posted pic of it I could find is Feb. '10 on a thread I started.

Mine’s 14” blade, no lanyard hole. I know I’ve seen a few like mine before but I don’t know anything about the history of them, I got it secondhand.

I remember the advertisements for the silent knight in knife mags. And yes any blanks from that time were definitely A2.
Busted… tapping the Scotch😎 Maybe my fault for not specifying INFI MOASK related stuff👍🏼

Jerry Busse Jerry Busse can you please shed any insight to the question posed in post #7?

I know… it was a long time ago.. but I’m guessing the MOASK holds a special place in your memory bank.

Both mine & Dobermaniac's are INFI. The A2 Silent Knights are older, have solid bolt fasteners, etc.

Pretty sure both of ours are from the same version of INFI, just were put together at different times. My guess is that his was created later, but both the blanks probably shared space in the Compound before being finished out.

Man, that A2 SK is a jaw dropper. Thank you for bringing it up Cobalt Cobalt & providing the link Jaxx Jaxx !

If I had to guess about which MOASK handle variant was earlier… it’d be short/no hole as being earlier & long/with hole later. Albeit both very close together.

I’ve done some air swings with the black/red handled one (short handle/no hole). I could see how deciding the handle would be more comfortable by extending it down towards the talon hole just a fuzz. It’s a big blade/caries momentum & the short handled version puts some lateral pressure on the index finger.
