Search your car van or truck, what knife do you have living in there on a permanent basis? I don't mean when you go out on a trip but what rattles around in the door pockets or glove box?in my CD box a Victorinox multi tool lurks..it has seen action!

The Victorinox is a good idea. You should probably put a cheap fixed blade in the trunk, something like a Ka-Bar or a Cold Steel Bushman.

i've been thinking about that...

but what would it be for specifically?

at the moment i have a Ka-Bar/Dozier folder and a Leatherman Blast

Depends on where and when. Branches down across the road, ice around your tires, firewood or digging at an emergency campsite.

Let's see: Spyderco Rescue, Ontario 9" blade of some sort, folding shovel, folding bucket, crowbar, hammer, glass breaker, small tool box, various coats/hats, matches/lighters, quart of water, fire extinguishers, and extra air line for my paint ball marker. :D

You're lost ... you posted this in Community Center.

Ka-bar cutlass, glock field knife, and a glock entrenching tool in my trunk. A spyderco assist1 in the cup holder. Lifeboat matches and a SOG multi tool in the glove box.

My dive knife is almost always in my xterra. I aways have a Leatherman Supertool in both my cars (got them as they were being discontinued for cheap)

Entrenching tool??? Impressive, you planning on burying the car for a while?:D
Just found a small Opinel under the steering wheel, last year's holiday to France:thumbup:

I can't remember the details, but a few years ago my mother was having car troubles, she needed to cut a hose of some sort and used the cheap boxcutter she was given at work to open boxes. After that i left a Victorinox Outrider in the car for her if she ever needed it, but she ended up taking it out of the car... who needs a knife in the car right?... Some folks never learn...

I don't own a car, but if i did, it would be home to a D cell Maglite and probably a Leatherman or SAK of sorts.

Back side of sun visor, a Cold Steel push dagger. Front side of sun visor a Al Mar Wild Hair. Between the seats in front a Boker A/F double edge. The box between the seats is a Cold Steel slide out serrated on both edges, and I forget what it is called but I also have a Cold Steel Japanese style slicing blade in a wooded sheath. In the cargo area I have survival equipment including the Cold Steel Shovel and a kukuri as well as a regular folding shovel.
All these don't "rattle around", I keep them pretty well secured but also ready if needed.
Oh, yeah, I forgot, I have a Leatherman tool under the ashtray(never used).

Ciao
Ron

Victorinox One Hand Trekker. One in each car. AWD Subaru also has hollow handle knife with matches and a hatchet.
And EACH has whatever THREE I'm carrying. :D

Usually just my gerber multitool and a maglite along with whatever odds-and-ends wrenchs I have tucked away for this-or that modification I did. Wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an e-tool or shortened shovel in the trunk... But luckily I dont have to worry about any of this until the summertime when I pull her out of storage anyways :(

I keep the following knives in my Tundra:
Ranger RD 4
Blue Alox Farmer
Gerber multi-tool (it was a gift.)

Currently residing in my '06 Silverado: Swamp Rat Battle Rat, Bandicoot.

In the 300C: Busse Zero Tolerance SH-E.

These are carried as energency tools, not as weapons. The Khar K9 is for that, probably to be replaced by the SIG GSR 1911 if SIG and I can ever get it to feed right.:(

I had the sheepsfoot version, called the ER-1 for Emergency Rescue. If yours is the dagger with partial serrations it might be the SR-1.

I have an Ontario mil-spec Marine knife in my truck, along with a crappy multi (Schrade perhaps...). I keep a SAK in the little 'glove box' on my bike, I think it is a mechanic.

Ron :

Ron,you seem to be driving around in a kind of porcupine...all quills, armour and spikes! But you are dead right, none of it should rattle around.

Blackjack original Campanion (1095), in case I ever need to pry open a Buick or Sherman tank or something. Leatherman super tool in the glove box. In the cargo box, a Mora (of course -- Eriksson) in plastic sheath, Hudson's Bay ax, German entrenching tool, various sockets and extensions, a breaker bar, lug wrench, rope, tow rope, jumper cables, tarp, matches, fence pliers, flares, space blanket, aluminum survival suit, tinder, tire chains, fleece lined gloves, toque, boonie hat, canvas firewood carrier, Sterno, 6-ton jack, other gear according to season...
