I've been lusting after some slip on style double leather sole moccasins. I have looked on-line at Gokey, Quoddy and Russell. Yes, I know they can be pricey. Anybody wear these and have any thoughts or recommendations?

I too have been wanting a pair of moc's, but don't have quite the budget you have lol

I ended up talking my mother into getting me a pair from town view leather as an early Christmas present :D They arrived literally the next day. Maybe my next pair I will get one from your list..if not one day

Some of the craftsmen who sell at Mountain Man Rendezvous make great stuff. One guy had a double sole that looked like it would stop a .22. Unfortunately, I was broke at the time....

The best I've ever had, or seen, were a pair of moosehide ones from Willis & Geiger. I literally wore the soles off those. And my lab thought they were the best thing (except for potato chips); he'd just lie with his head resting on them.

W&G made great stuff; I still wear the jackets I got from them 25 years ago.

I had a pair made by this gentleman. Am looking to get another pair with soles this time, more of a boatshoe style.

Yep, I too have some of his double bullhide moccasins.
Bought them 20+ years ago. He had a booth at an outdoor fair and a pair of them in my size on hand.
Still wear them.

Don't be fooled by the dated looking website or poor pics.
This guy's stuff is or was really good.
My brother had some Gokeys and these were as nice if not better.

Don't think you can go wrong with the Russells either.

Now, this outfit has a great history and direct ties w/Gokey but looks a little spendy and a few months wait...

BTW, my Beavertracks look identical to the above.

Good luck Rob! :)

I have a pair of the Russell Oneidas- going on twenty-two years now and still going strong :)

Quoddy has gotten pricey in the last couple of years, their Dawson style is really heavy duty. Town View has got high quality stuff at reasonable prices

Town view leather has high quality products, especially the deerskin lined. They also make some killer moosehide wool lined ones too, only single sole but super comfortable. Thye're really nice people to deal with too !

I had been longing for a pair of Russel's but don't think that will ever happen. Have been wearing Minnitonka's (spelling wrong I'm sure) but they only last a few years.

I do like the Town View Leather ones and their price is a bit more reasonable than Russel's.

Maybe I'll buy myself a pair for my B-day.

Part of the reason the Russels didn't happen was I could never get my wife to trace my foot, then the catalog would get "lost" and it never happened.

Actually town view has some listed on ebay right now for around $55, a good deal, think they're normally around $75 on the Townview website.
