I found my EDC - except the blade is serrated. Why doesnt Vic offer a OH locking plain blade? All the OH blades are serrated as far as I can tell.

Is it possible to have a bladesmith grind out the serrations and still end up with a quality edge? Would that be expensive?

thx

Of course you can, it's not complicated nor expensive and the results should be ok (if done properly). But allow me to ask: have you considered giving the serrated blade a chance? When I bought my OHT (the german army version) I was skeptic about serrations too, but after a few days I fell in love with them (and with the fact that they start from the tip of the blade, unlike many other knives with serrations near the handle). They are useful and allowed me to cut through materials that a straight blade would have cut requiring much more effort. Think about it. :)

They do now, I think...

I agree with the european, unfortunately I haven't got a chance to take it to the outdoor.

I know this is a month or two old, but I highly recommend giving the serrations a chance. I planned on doing this with my GSAK but it is an awesome cutter. The serrations are so aggressive that they catch, which I hate. I was in the same boat as you. Use it as is.

I left mine as is.But if you really need a PE follow Schmecky's lead to the link he provided.tom.

I also had plans to smooth out a OHT but decided against it once I started using the knife. Then I decided that I would use the OHT and sharpen it like a plain edge knife which would remove the serrations over time. After a long session of cutting up old carpet I used the corners of the Sharpmaker but they did such a good job on the serrations I abandoned any plans to purposefully remove the serrations.
