I got a MOD (Masters of Defense) Ayoob Razorback ( 154 CM ) a few years ago and was impressed with the quality and concealability. It is my understanding that Blackhawk Industries , who make a lot of military type gear, bought out MOD. Recently I came across the Blackhawk website ( http://www.blackhawk.com/ ) (( deal spotting )) They have the A-2 Beshara XSF-1 (( deal spotting )). I ordered that along with the Blackhawk ATS-34 Crucible FX (( deal spotting )) I felt I couldn't go wrong for the price. They also have the MOD Nightwing (S30V) (not to be confused with the cheaper Nightedge) (( deal spotting )) May have to get that too. The Brent Beshara XSF-1 is a unique dagger. It is more a "military" knife than a typical dagger. It is thick and has a double sharpened bevel blade which meets in a sharp "screwdriver" type tip. This makes the tip a lot stronger and more "multi-tasking" than a regular dagger. However, probably doesn't penetrate as readily as a typical dagger. But for 105 bucks it's hard to go wrong. The Crucible FX is a 3" fixed blade that is very concealable. There are a lot of nice knives out there. These are maybe not the prettiest knives but they are quality and utilitarian. For 200 bucks I would buy a Bark River but for 100 bucks apiece I didn't go wrong by picking a couple of these up. I want to make it clear that I am not affiliated with MOD/Blackhawk. Just surfed the world wide web of knives and came across this.

I was able to handle the Crucible series (fixed and folder). Kelly McCann actually pitched a great product. Great knives whether for work or SD. Though both were similar in design featuring the superb ergo's, the FX seemed to handle and fit the hand better. It felt less "boxy" than the folder (this is the trade-off in turning into a folding platform I suppose). The folder however is one of the few best examples of a well-made liner lock in mass produced knives and would trust it completely should I happen to own one.

May they serve you well and let us know if you can about how they perform.

I have a MOD XSF-1. It doesn't perform... Like at all... Like at anything.

It is the most useless "knife" I've ever come across. Although it really shouldn't be called a knife. More of a sharpened prybar...except for it's too long and slim for a robust prybar. I have sharpened prybars that outcut it by a huge margin. And they're marketed as actual prybars.

Why it lacks you ask? It doesn't cut. It doesn't penetrate. Im scared to use it as a prybar because it might snap in two. The sheath is too big and difficult to use for such a slim knife. The handle "ergos" are bad. I understand fully what mr. Beshara went for when designing the XFS-1 because I studied thorougly all material before going for the buy. After I had tested it, I was dissapointed as it just didn't work, not atleast in MOD's interpretation. I guess one could justify it for some very specific timespan limited da type functions in mil side of things but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice...

Ragnarok, why you feel we need to know the the awesome sale prices and normal retail prices for several knife models from Blackhawk's sale clearance? I think it would've been better if you only had a link to blackhawk's main site. That's just my opinion...

I posted the link because I think it's a good sale. Again, I don't believe I would have bought the Beshara "sharpened prybar" for 200 bucks or more. Also, as this is a different type of blade design, it seems like it will be somewhat difficult to sharpen. I see a lot of factory knives getting up in the 200 dollar + price range and am wondering how many are worth it.

Thanks for the heads upon the sale. I have owned a few of MOD's folders and have always wanted one of their fixed blade models.

I don't understand why Blackhawk / MOD is trying to market XSF as anything related to a "tactical knife".

The maker IIRC designed it as a dive knife. Dive knives are mostly used for light prying vice cutting.
