Anyone know what size Allen Wrench will remove the set screw holding in the glass breaker on a MOD CQD MKII?

Where can one be bought this small?

I went to Sears Hardware and had no luck, the smalles on they (or I) have just barely fits in the recess of the hole.

WARNING!

At least on my CQD MK 1, it doesnt use a hex wrench it uses a "spline" drive wrench, which is slightly different, BUT NOT THE SAME! The Spline drive's teeth in the fastener are square. I'm not sure if the MK.2 uses Spline or hex screws...Just an FYI.

I had the same question and e-mailed MOD. Jim Ray responded with the answer.

It is a .035 hex drive. VERY tiny, but it is available from www.wihatools.com

If you don't want to bother getting that wrench, you could also loosen the screws that hold the two sides of the handle together. If you do it carefully, you should be able to loosen and then retighten without having to mess with the internals.

It might be a hassle just to do the glass breaker, but you can weigh that against acquiring that hex wrench.

Off hand, what are you planning to do? Remove it or turn it around (to the blunt end)?

Thanks for all of the good advice. I'll probably pick up the small hex wrenches since I've been wanting a small set anyway.

I did not want to loosen the scales because this knife functions flawlessly and I have no other need to take it apart. A good cleaning may be in order so I probably will for that anyway.

I'm planning on reversing the glass breaker initially to see how that goes.

Right now, depending on the pants I'm wearing, it keeps poking me in the leg and gets a little annoying. But hey, that's the only fault I can find in the knife so MOD is doing good.

Personally it may be my favorite EDC and tactical folder right now. I like everything else about it

I have heard that the other side of the glass breaker is a rounded "impact" device. I haven't done this yet myself since I do not yet have the proper tool. I also will be ordering a set of these small drivers.

And yes, the Mark II is very suitable as an EDC. Small, yet tough to an extreme and with a grip that will not readily leave your hand.

Good luck with it.

Well, I loosened the 3 handle screws about 4 turns each and the glass breaker dropped right out. I reversed it and it's much better:p

A nicely rounded nub protrudes about the same length out of the handle as the glass breaker did.

I vaguely remember reading that this side is designed more for hitting pressure points but for me it will just stop jabbing me in the leg.

Much, much better!

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I am planning on ordering the small set of allen wrenches because it bugs the shi* out of me knowing I don't have every tool necessary for my knives, guns, .... [insert any excuse here] ;)

I've had my CQD II for several months now. It's a great EDC and a very reliable/rugged piece.
