Hey Fellas!
Just wanted to run some stuff by ya. Im thinking about purchasing my FIRST MOD. I've heard mixed reviews about thier knives, but wanted to run it by you fellas to see what you think. Good knives? Quality? Durable? EDC? I found a particular model that I like....Elishewitz Phoenix (designed by a Marine....mmmm...that caught my eye). Looks like a cool knife and would possible suit my needs (LEO). Any feedback on MOD or this model? Thanks in advance!

I'm in LE as well, though not a Marine, but I do work with several of them. Allan E is a great Knifemaker and is a former Recon Marine. I'd seriously consider some of his other collaborations (like the Benchmade Ares or Stryker) over the MOD Phoenix unless you absolutely want that style of knife (a very tiny fixed blade that extends an inch and a half to still be a very tiny fixed blade).

Though I don't own the MOD Phoenix, I have played with one and found it to be a little more "cool" (as in the "wow factor") than practical, but your experience may be different. It's got good steel and a functional sheath, but that's about all. If your hands are on the larger side, you'll probably find it too small.

Allen E is definitely a talented Knifemaker, and I own quite a few of his very fucntional designs. Mick Strider (Strider knives) is also a former Marine, and he makes some very functional knives as well. Good luck and Be Safe! :)

MOD has had some great designs and I've bought a couple of them. However, I have always found their prices to be a little high for the materials used. Not bad knives though! As a matter of fact, the Designers they use are always top notch! Good Luck!

Thanks 3Guards....appreciate the scoop. I'll continue to keep my eyes open! I gotta say....I just discovered this "HAK" Hide-away-knife.....WOWOOW!!!! Im excited!!! Would like to configure a few for my dutybelt!! Any experience with one? Thanks!

MarineMustang,
I think you'll like them! I like mine! ;)

Also check out the new Kabar TDI knife (a collaboration with the Tactical Defense Institute)!

Ha! Funny, I was also looking at the TDI as well!! Do you have one of those too?? I was a bit torn...TDI=$25 and the HAK=$145?!?!?! I'm leaning toward the HAK though....it seems more custom, practical and hands free!!

I don't have the TDI yet, but that'll change in the next day or two. I have held one, and it felt great. :)
