Hi,

Do you hardcore HOGs find it unethical to remove Choil and Talon Hole from a piece of INFI as a result of a modification? The Talon Hole is part of the BUSSE branding and therefore this mod might be considered more critical...

But if form is supposed to follow function, and my desired function requires the choil and talon hole to be "modded away"... why not doing it?

Your advice is highly appreciated - and so are pictures of INFIs that already went through this process...

I don't know if I qualify as a hardcore Hog (:o), but I don't think that is unethical at all! A lot of members here have added their own flavor to knives they appreciate; Randucci, Ban, Norcal, just to name a few. If you believe that removing a talon hole will help the overall function or versatility...or whatever...of the knife, I say go for it! Just be sure to post some pictures post-modification!

Its your property, do with it what you will, make it yours. :)

I have thought about grinding the talon hole off of my NMSFNO,
To make it rock on the cutting board like a French chef knife.:D

I'm not sure why ethics would have any relevance to this. If you legitimately own the knife, then it is yours, and yours alone, to do absolutely whatever you want with.

You mean something like this ?

One of my handiest EDCs

Nope, you can't remove the talon hole, it's the 8th deadly sin, and the 11th or 12th commandment ;)

People do it all the time.

No ethics at all. It may affect resale value, but that is not an issue of ethics.

The Busse shop releases Hack versions with no talon holes. So you can find AD's and Meaners and GWs without talon holes and big useable choils.

All right. Thanks for your feedback. I was aware, that I would not commit a criminal act - however, there are things permissable by law that i would still find unethical. Setting my Picasso on fire after legally buying it would be just one example. And isn't INFI art as well?

But you guys are open minded people and encourage me to be creative in my knife mods... might take a couple of weeks before you see pictures though.

Anybody has a pic of a choiless steel heart with a wicked recurve? That's one of my plans, actually... Not sure about the talon hole yet.
