Welcome to Bladeforums!

I second mister wilburn. I have the MOD CQD and CQD Mark II manual, and the CQD Mark I auto. I also have a Microtech SOCOM Elite. THAT is one sleek but tough knife, and a good knife for EDC under any circumstances. Of course, mine is one of the old skool. The current versions are just as good, though.

The MODs are all but indestructible, great for the field or emergency conditions. They are pretty big for ordinary carry. But I tell you what, I keep them on a table by the door, and when I go out, it's a last minute decision, if I want to take one of them instead of whatever I happen to be carrying.

If you do like the CQD, consider the Mark II. It is a much smaller knife in mass and girth, but ... the blade is only 1/2" shorter and the handle is 1&1/2" shorter than the big one. And it's still a full-size workhorse.

I have a Microtech SOCOM that was born 3/97 and it has been through a lot. It was my EDC for a long time and has cut everything from bamboo to birthday cake it is a great knife. I haven't handled the MODs so i can't comment on them but I had no trouble EDCing my SOCOM.

I had to go get it out, talking about it again like this -- stonewashed clip point SOCOM Elite, 6/2000.

I got a good deal on it, and I was very excited when it arrived. I don't think I had another knife with quite that precision and solidity. Soon after, my first Sebenza arrived, and I put the SE aside.

No, it is not available for sale. :)
