I found on the web different info about blade length for MOD Mark II. From some pictuers preseted with some scale it looks like it is actually 3.75". But on some sites it is 3.3". Is this different models or just mistake?
I like tihs knife! Does Mark I really issued for military (does it have NSN)?
Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili, I've got both the MOD CQD and CQD Mark II, so I just measured them. The CQD is 3.75" and the CQD Mark II is 3.25", from blade tip to forward end of the handle -- which is rounded forward slightly.

Technically, the original is the CQD, which I have. The current model is known as the CQD Mark I, which is similar but with a carbide glass breaker out the front. I don't know if the CQD Mark I has an NSN. The MOD website doesn't say so.

Vassili, understand this. There are three kinds of "issue" knives. One is the Ka-Bar type, which is actually stocked and handed out to troops when the military thinks they need them, the same as they issue shoes or boots. The next is the NSN type, which is legitimate for military purchase, but isn't issued unless it is specially requisitioned by a commanding officer. The last is the knife, or any other item, that a commander thinks his troops need, even if it isn't NSN -- he can get it for them. This would be something expensive or specialized.

I don't know that the CQD Mark I is a regular military issue, but I bet there are units that wouldn't mind convincing their commanders to pick up a few :D As you will see, it is a great knife. It's really big, but so well designed that it's not hard to handle. It is unbelievably tough. After you've had it a while, you may consider doing what I did: buy a Mark II as backup for times when the Mark I is more knife than you need, or you want to be more circumspect.
