MOD Mk 2 or Commander

Hi everyone,
I can't seem to make up my mind between the Commander and a MOD Mk 2. I have an Autumn's Edge.com window open, and I'm flipping back and forth between the MOD and the Emerson! Does anyone own both of these knives? There are things that I like on the Mk 2, the carbide tip, the textured grip, and the fact that I think the knife looks sexy. But then the Commander, I've handled before and I love the wave feature, and the blade shape. Is there anything that puts one over the other? Opinions? Comments? I'm so torn right now, so any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.Thank you everyone. -Xandre
 
I have both and I like both, but given a choice I would buy the Commander. The carbide glass breaker is cool but honestly if you're just a regular Joe when are you going to get a chance to use it and not get arrested? Not often. Another thing, the Commander is closer in size to the Mark 1 (which I also own and love) and the Mark 2 and Mini-Commander are exactly the same size. I know because I own both. If you liked the way the Commander felt in your hand get the Commander. Hope this helps.
 
AndrewR, thanks for the info. I was hopefully thinking that the carbide tip could serve more than one purpose. Do you think that that little bit would add some effect if I ever had to use it for self defense? Or do you think it's so small that it wouldn't do anything? I tried looking for a picture of the end of the Mk II but couldn't come up with anything good. Oh, and BTW, which do you carry more often? :D Thanks
 
You can use the carbide tip on the Mark 2 in self defense as a pressure point or for bashing. The handle of the Commander is pointy enough to use in the same manner. I used to carry the Mark 2 but found that the grip material tore up my pockets. G-10 is much easier on the pockets and gloveless figures as well. The clip on the Mark 2 also moves around a lot because the tiny hex screws are easily stripped. The clip on the Commander is rock solid.

As for my EDC knife I rotate between my Commander and HD-7 depending on where I go (mall vs. nature hike). I just got a CQC-14 and it's nice so I may have start carrying that.
