Opinions;
Which would be the most knife for my money.
1. The M.O.D. Dieter CQD.
2. The Microtech LCC
3. The Microtech SOCOM Elite

I know that the Sebenza is highly thought of but I just don't like the feel of plain aluminum handles (and the $$$ is kind of steep too)

1) Sebenza has a titanium handle

1. The M.O.D. Dieter CQD.
2. The Microtech LCC
3. The Microtech SOCOM Elite

2) All fine choices, but you may want to consider the MOD CQD II, the Tempest or the Trident; all of these are fine knives, and you will find the tempest, trident or hornet at much more reasonable prices, just check out the exchange, if you get one of these you aren't giving up one drop of quality.
good luck.

I have carried two of the three you have listed, the LCC and Socom Elite, and I prefered the Elite for everyday carry. I know I am probably in the minority, but the SE just fits my large hand better. Plus it is lighter and bigger than the LCC and has a great lock. If you get the later blade grind it will cut well. Don't get me wrong, I think the LCC is a great knife, but just not my preference for daily carry. Both MTs have pocket clips that allow for deep pocket carry while the CQD leaves a lot of knife sticking out. If you want to go with the MOD CQD I would suggest the smaller version because the large one is VERY big. I actually should have my small CQD by Monday. You might also look at the SERE 2000. I just picked one of these up and have been very impressed. BTW, I stopped carrying the Socom Elite when I got my Sebenza

I've checked'em all out (except for a few) and I think that my personal winners are the:
-MOD Hornet
-Benchmade 705BT
-Microtech SOCOM Elite
Really can't go wrong with any of the ones mentioned in this thread, though.

I have the LCC and CQD MKII, I also have a CQD full size on the way.

The LCC is an excellent knife and is the only liner lock I've kept in my collection. I bought my CQD MKII a couple of weeks ago and IMHO it is the finest production folder out right now (you're only allowed to disagree with me if you own one

).

I like it so much that I ordered the full size today.

If you are looking for comparable size the MKII is closer to the LCC, the CQD full size is bigger but still weighs less (I'm pretty sure) than the LCC.

Everyone has discussed the virtues of the LCC so I won't go into it. BTW, it has a lot of virtues.

The CQD is purely amazing, it's smooth as butter, locks up perfect and if the tried and true plunge lock isn't good enough for the situation at hand you can slide forward the secondary lock adding another layer of protection. If you are looking for the baddest bad boy on the block, this is the one.

Right now the CQD is my favorite tactical folder by a strong margin. That's saying a lot since I have plenty and they are almost all what I'd call "high end" production pieces. I never envisioned another knife knocking my much loved REKATS off of the top of my list but the MKII did it.

I debated buying the CQD because there is not much press here about them but I can reccomend it whole heartedly. Buy one and you'll never look back.

I would also reccomend starting with the CQD MKII, it's less money ($150 from Murray at ProEdge) and every bit as good as it's bigger brother from what I can tell. All you'd be giving up is the tactical cutter and a little in blade length.

Who knows, you may end up doomed like me and order the other one a week or two later anyway.

I just sold my MOD DD CDQ. It was just too big for every day carry unless you're Andre the Giant. It was my fault that I bought one sight unseen. It is a fantastic knife and of very high quality. It is obviously a great all purpose folder for the military and a great trail knife. However, it is big and I don't think it should be directly compared to the MT LCC or other "pocket" knives. If the CDQ II is of the same quality, I'd say handle all the ones people have mentioned and pick the one that feels best in your hand.

When you think CQD think LARGE. It is a tank of a knife and I do love it but never carry it. I've thought of selling it several times but always change my mind. It fits the hand so well and is so scary looking that I can't bear to part with it.

The LCC always feels like it wants to slip out of my hand. I find it to be an extremely well made but ungainly knife. I'm definitley going to sell mine.

You can never go wrong with a Sebenza. Truly wonderful piece of engineering that will never let you down in any way.

Don't take my word for it. Buy all three!

I got my CQD Mk II yesterday and I REALLY like this knife. I don't know if it knocks off the Socom Elite as my top choice, but it is a really awesome knife. It is about the same size as my LCCs but much lighter. My only real complaint is the clip placement leaves a lot of knife hanging out of your pocket. Definitely try to handle one of these before you make a decision.

I'll second the CQD MK II. I would say that unless you have a chance to handle the big CQD, get the MK II, THEN if it's too small return it for the bigger one. IMHO the MK II is just about perfectly sized.

I would agree that it doesn't ride quite low enough for me. Actually, it doesn't bother ME so much, but there are times when I'd rather not advertise my knife to everyone. However, between the clip and wing-walk material, it seems pretty secure in the pocket, so I'm not really worried about it falling out. Go for it, especially if you can get a good price on it ($175 or less). It's a great piece of work.

Well, today I got my full sized CQD, after I picked myself up off of the floor, I packed it back up and sent it back.

Yes, this is a fantastic knife.
Yes, fit and finish was perfect.

But unless you are planning on killing a Yak with it I think it would sit in the drawer all of the time.

It is very well suited for what it was designed -- CQD.

I would have loved to keep it just to pull out and scare the sh** out of people but I like my knives to be users.

Placed side by side it is about 30-40% bigger than the MKII. It would be about the same for an LCC.

I'll stick to the MKII and hope MOD comes out with more products in this line that are a similar size.
