I had the exact same experience with my scorpion, I even did a review of it here. I tried to sharpen the thing on my sharpmaker for about three hours, and finally gave up
. I took it a local shop and the guy there was able to fix it up so that is slices paper. It functions ok now, but I am still peeved at the out of the box performance (or rather, the lack thereof).
Maybe if you have an edgepro, or diamond rods, you could have better luck than I did. (IMHO, get a La Griffe, a MUCH better knife).

I also have had my share of dull edges from two of my MOD knives: the 685 Fighter and 875 Clipped. I took them to the local cutler who put very decent edges on both knives and they now perform beautifully. My Tempest, however, is razor sharp from day 1. It seems with the new MODs, the qc has dropped somewhat.
