Has anyone ever sanded/filed a RC-4 to make it easier to strike a firesteel? If so would you mind posting a few pics? I'm considering doing this to mine and need some pointers. Thanks!

Some folks don't stike firesteel with their knives. Cool by me. I like having everything I'll need in a tough situation in one place on my hip. Its just how I am. This RC4 is kinda special to me. Its rapidly become one of my favorite blades by far. Do you ever notice how some knives, you just can't treat rough? I put my knives in 3 categories, Wives, Mistresses, and Ladies of the Night. Wives are kept, clean and pristine with very little real work, Mistresses are kept, but used rough only when they have to be, and Ladies of the Night get treated rough, used, and put up. This knife has become my Special Lady of the Night, I got it in a trade, she was used plenty when I got her, and she has been used since I got her. But she's special, she takes it, likes it, and keep coming for more. This knife will, hopefully go with me to Peru next year, God willing. Its my pack knife, my go to knife, my knife that I always have with me. I hope this helps. I'm kinda drunk so forgive my ramblings. Moose

Lol, Awesome man. Thanks for the pics. How did you strip away the coating on the blade? The only thing that would worry me is taking that finish off would make the blade more vulnerable to rusting especially since its 1095. I'm on the same page as you when it comes to liking to have everything in one spot. Thanks again!

Jasco Epoxy paint stripper from Lowes, $6.28 and is some evil stuff. I don't worry about rust on my blade no more than a tan on my skin. I apply mineral oil (Ballistol) and a wipe down with every use. If it rusts, wipe it hard, and watch it turn black. Hope it helps. Moose
