MOD retails in the $130 range, Mini-Socom is in the $90-$100 range. Is this an apples-to-apples comparision or are these two knives in different leagues?

Thanks- steve

Normaly I would say the MT but in this case you get a little more to hold onto with the Trident!!! You're not making a wrong decision either way but I take the Trident in this case!!!

Agreed,
The mini is too small for most hands.

The trident will serve you better unless you have very small hands.

Both of equal quality as far as I'm concerned.

Blade Design and geometry, hands down the Trident wins. I love my trident, and I can assure you, most people I come across like my Trident better than my Microtech UMS. Especially the blade design.

I think the mini-socom elite is WAY too tiny, hence why I bought the UMS.

Thanks for the replies. I've been getting a list going of all options. Too many knives, not enough money... that's all that I can say.

I've got lots of mini socoms and I just recently recived a mod trident and I must say I realy like it more than the mini socom , its a little larger and has a killer blade grind .
Mod and microtech were started by the same people involved with microtech now so the design , fit and finish are close to the same.
If money is the deal the mini socom is exalent for the price and I can hook you up with one for a great price since I have more than one but I onley have one trident and it is a hand ground hand satin finish and its not going anywhere:D

I have both and I would recommend the Microtech hands down. I've found the Mini-Socom to have far superior edge retention, a usable lanyard hole, a better blade finish, and better ergonomics. If the size is a problem, then check out the new Mini-Socom Elite. The blade is longer than the Trident, and it has a frame lock. It's also quite a bit less expensive. ;)
