Does anyone have experience with this knife. Wondering how the lock streangth is with the liner. And if you would consider it a hard use knife. It would need to do some chopping, prying and heavy push cutting in my hands. And does in have option for tip up carry. Any reviews and info would be appreciated,
thnks
Matt

I had one that the liner kept slipping. Not very reliable. The Hornet on the other hand was superb. New for '08 is the Hornet II and a new version of the Trident called the Point Guard. They are exact copies but with G10 handles and AUS8A blades. Can't wait to get mine. You can see them here at www.blackhawk.com:thumbup:

I had one and was solid as a rock. Didn't use it much though. I didn't like the hump in back of the point. Not a big bitch really but carried my Hornets and EKI's way more. The new Hornet looks great. Can't say I like the choice of blade steels for a hundred dollar knife but I think reasonable improvments to a classic. keepem sharp

The trident is hands down my favorite edc knife. Very solid and I have never had a problem with the liner lock. The handle fits me better then any other pocket knife I have owned. The pocket clip on both of mine are reversable.

I was pretty bent when they stopped carrying this model. I have not handled the newer version and am not sure how the new handle material will feel.

Er, Point Man you mean? Thanks for the heads-up BTW!:cool:

I have a Trident, bought used some years ago from a forumite. I have carried and used it camping. Had no problems with the lockup. I have not, however, done any batoning with it. I always take a good khukuri when I go camping for the heavier knife work.
The previous owner of my Trident had reprofiled the blade. It is an excellent cutter, and the edge-holding is very good.
