Modded Boss Street

This morning while my batch of blades were heat treating, I decided to finish off a project I started a while ago. I had already ground off the extended pommel on my Boss Street, and now decided to replace the handles. I drilled off the old handle rivets, then ground around the profile of the blade to square off the spine. Then I put contoured tan canvas micarta slabs on with hollow nickel pins. I like how it came out, kind of a heavy duty bushcrafter.

Nice work, John.

I like the contours on your scales more than the original ones.

excellent work, not that i don't like the existing scales but those look like they would feel outstanding in hand

It turned out great, nice "graining" in the micarta

I like it a lot, would look awesome if you put a satin finish on it. The boss streets are pretty nice under the coating, wouldn't require much grinding at all, mostly just a surface conditioning belt.

I replaced the handles on my DC with Ironwood, but I didn't go nearly as far as you did with yours. It really looks great!

Looking good.

Nice!

I would also wonder what a version with the handle extending back to cover the extended tang would look like (as opposed to grinding it flush with the handle). Might make for an unbalanced look though.

It has been a while since I held a proto, and can't honestly remember how much room was on the handle (just remember thinking how comfy it was).
